TRANSPORTATION: His obvious achievement in this sector is the introduction of his mass transit scheme, popularly called ‘comrade bus’! While most intellectual peasants are busy sheepishly lauding this project, postmodernists like us were busy evaluating it…and am glad to present my findings as is contained below:
* That the comparative study of fares charged by both Oshiomhole’s public buses vs private buses from maingate to new benin is N50 vs N40 respectively.
* That carrying capacity of the comrade bus is 7 times higher than that of an average private bus.
* That passengers plying the mentioned route pay more on the public bus than the private busses.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK FOR ANALYSIS:
As developmental experts cum public administrators, we know that the primary rational for government intervention in bussiness is not to make profit but to improve public welfare by reducing the cost of living and shielding the public from the exploitativeness of the private sector. CONCLUSION: Given the above findings and theoretical framework, I hereunder submit that: 1. The comrade bus scheme is anti-developmental.
2. The said scheme have only succeeded in exploiting edolites instead of ameliorating their sufferings, as we can see that there is nothing welfarist about a public bus that should be charging lower, given its large carrying capacity as compared with that of the private buses….
RECOMENDATION:
My only recommendation is for the exploitative progenitator of this project, being Oshiomhole, should without delay be forced to either resign his office or be massively voted out from office by true progressives!
