Saintfiet arrived in Tanzania less than a month after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) shelved plans to appoint him as the country’s technical director.
"When I arrived on Wednesday at the airport about 300 fans were there to welcome me, singing and dancing in club shirts and with flags," revealed the Belgian coach.
"In the afternoon, I had my first training, with more than 1000 spectators at the training ground. I have never seen anything like it in my life."
He told MTNFootball.com that he was looking forward to his first taste of African club football after three previous national team assignments on the continent with Namibia, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia.
He has signed a two-year contract with the top Tanzanian club Young Africans.
"I have signed a two-year deal as coach of current East and Central African champions Young Africans SC (Yanga SC) in Tanzania," Saintfiet said.
Yanga are tied on 18 league titles with archrivals Simba SC.
