Representative of Nigeria international, Gabriel Rueben has told SuperSport.com that the midfielder will not be travelling to Belgium just yet.
British-based manager of Rueben, Tony Harris, disclosed on Monday ruled out any plan for the 22-year-old going on trials at KAA Gent.
Harris said he has been in touch with KAA Ghent head coach, Trond Sollied, who is keen on signing Rueben but that no "concrete deal has been reached."
He added that there was no need for any rushed decision on the player's future.
“KAA Gent are amongst several clubs that have shown significant interest in Gabriel Rueben.
“I am in contact with the manager Trond Sollied and I am aware that he is an admirer of Gabriel. Trond Sollied is a great manager with a proven track record of developing talented players, it will be great for Gabriel if indeed a deal can be reached.
“There is, however, no tangible agreement whatsoever with the club so it will be rather premature and frivolous to assume that Gabriel Rueben will be travelling to KAA Gent before a concrete deal has been reached,” Harris informed over the telephone.
“There is no pressure for a rash decision at this point, the player is very talented, still young and in demand.
"It is of paramount importance to first ensure that the sporting, financial and developmental aspects of his young career are carefully balanced before taking any final decision, nevertheless, a trial in Europe is completely out of the question.”
Rueben, who has made a big impact in Kano Pillars' Nigeria Premier League (NPL) title charge this term and for the Super Eagles, told SuperSport.com that he is only focused on helping his club in their Cup and league games.
“I am happy with the positive comments that I have received so far. I am very happy that I am in great form. I always thank God for everything and continue to work hard for my club and my national team,” said Rueben to SuperSport.com.
“I have to continue to work hard and to perform well and I’ll leave the rest to my manager Tony Harris. And I won't be travelling to Belgium as being reported."
Rueben scored in the 1-1 draw for Nigeria's Super Eagles in the 2014 Fifa World Cup against Malawi in Blantyre in June.
