The former Newcastle United striker looks set to quit Russian club Rubin Kazan after a rather unproductive past season.
A top associate of ‘Obagoal’ informed MTNFootball.com: “It looks very certain that Martins will leave Russia now. The club were far from satisfied with his performance last season and he has blamed that on the very defensive style of football they play.
“Besiktas and Galatasaray in Turkey are now interested, so too his former club Inter Milan, where the youth team coach who Martins played under is now in charge.”
It is believed that what has stalled the 27-year-old star’s switch is the insistence of Rubin Kazan that they want to sell outrightly and not ship him out on another loan deal.
“He only managed a goal in eight appearances for the Russian club last season and this is now working against him getting a club who will buy him on a permanent basis,” a source disclosed.
Rubin Kazan want to recoup the over 17 million Euros they spent to sign Martins from German club Wolfsburg in July 2010.
His huge wage of about 40,000 pounds a week was reported as the main reason a move by English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion collapsed recently.
He still has a year left on his contract with Rubin Kazan.
