A lecturer from South Africa's the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has allegedly been dismissed after he was accused of demanding sex from a student in exchange for higher marks.

The Pretoria News said that the university refused to comment on the matter. The incident happened in the department of journalism and Facebook was buzzing over the last few days with students for and against the lecturer airing their views. The lecturer allegedly stated his intention to sleep with the student on Facebook.

When the student failed the subject, she said it was because she wouldn’t have sex with him. But the lecturer accused her of blaming him for her poor marks. TUT spokesperson Willa de Ruyter said: “It is an internal disciplinary matter, which is still under investigation.”
