Dolphins' goalkeeper, Rotimi Sunday said a win in Friday's last day game against Rising Stars in Port Harcourt will save his side from disgrace.
The domestic champions are perched dangerously on 47 points after they forfeited four-points from the expelled side, Ocean Boys.
Sunday said his side had the premonition of what befell the Brass-based side and were careful not to take maximum points from them.
"We lost four points to the Ocean Boys' saga which left us on 47 points with a game against Rising Stars on Friday.
"We got the hint though from an unconfirmed source that Ocean Boys' points would be cancelled, so we were careful to take points off them at Yenagoa.
"Though we felt bad with the turn of event but it's also a warning call that we must win our last game.
"The tie against Rising Stars has turned out to be a life-saver, a saving grace to stave off relegation.
"We're ready to pick three points off Rising Stars, which takes us to 50 points and clear from the drop.
"It's an important game as anything short of three points is dangerous," he told supersport.com.
The former Enyimba shot-stopper said the new champions, Kano Pillars deserved the honour that came on their way.
"I feel bad and good that we're unable to defend our title. Champions are time and season bound, last season was our time this term is not ours.
"I'm happy for Kano Pillars, they worked very hard and surely deserved to be champions.
"But it's a challenge and I hope they'll live up to the expectations of Nigerians on the continent," said the former Sunshine Stars' goaltender.
