Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Dosu Joseph, is confident Bright Edomwonyi, is headed for greatness as a professional.
Edomwonyi learnt his trade under Dosu at the KVC Westerlo Academy, in Lagos, and proceeded to the parent club, in Belgium, where he played for the reserves to receive more football lessons.
Interestingly, the youngster’s performance for Westerlo attracted the attention of several teams in and outside Belgium and his team eventually settled for Red Bull Salzburg, in Austria, when he reached 18, in July.
“Edomwonyi is a player who can grow to become a club legend at Red Bull. In fact, Nigeria will also benefit from the youngster.
“He remains a worthy ambassador of the Nigerian academy and KVC Westerlo. We’re proud of him,” Dosu said to supersport.com.
The 18-year-old Nigerian can play in all attacking positions.
Red Bull’s Sporting Director, Ralf Rangnick, sees the signing of the young Nigerian as another investment in the future.
“Edomwonyi is a lightning-quick, technically accomplished and threatening attacking all-rounder. He is a huge talent at just 18 years old and fits our requirements perfectly,” he told the club website.
The youngster is eligible to play for Nigeria.
