Enyeama’s howler gifted Sekou Jabateh Oliseh the simple task of netting the Lone Star's second goal last Saturday at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia but Keshi has denied blaming the keeper for conceding the goal.
“Haba, there was nothing like that and if there is anybody to be blamed, it’s the team, not an individual.
“I never at any moment said that Enyeama, who remains our first-choice keeper caused us the draw in Liberia and in fact I think that he is one of the best in the world but at times like these passion rules over reason, but we must not bring individual players into our poor performance, it’s a collective failure to win,” Keshi said.
Nigeria must avoid defeat or a high-scoring draw in the second leg to seal qualification for the 2013 Afcon finals in South Africa and Keshi is certain the lads can get the job done.
“We will score goals aplenty, but I understand the apprehension of Nigerians, and what I have always asked for is patience, I need lots of it to succeed,” he said.
The coach is expected to release the list of players to prosecute the second leg against the Lone Star and he assured and urged the nation to throw their weight behind the players.
“The list of invited players will be made public early enough and we assure that we will not only win but win well and plead with Nigerians including enemies of the team for support,” he said.
The second leg of the contest will be decided at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar on October 14.
