During the ritual one of Gogo Anna Nngadimeng Moyo's (83) partners reportedly stripped naked, got hold of a rope and headed to her homestead in a bid to escape consequences of her actions. The cleansing ceremony was held at Gogo Moyo's homestead in Mtshatshani village, Nkalange in Gwanda. Gogo Moyo's accomplices attended the ceremony, but they refused to repent saying they were not foolish. A family member said after Moyo's confession and the discovery of suspected human sexual organs, they had to hold a cleansing ceremony to get rid of the goblins.
"When Gogo divulged her works, she went through a healing session which was to be followed by a cleansing ceremony. The three women whom she fingered as her 'partners' were also invited. When Gogo Moyo started confessing, her two accomplices started asking the woman what had got into her," said her daughter Nnagimeng.
There was no way the alleged witches could deny what Moyo had said as she had all the evidence.
"One of them then stood up and started shouting saying that she was not a fool and would not say anything. She even refused to call the alleged goblins named Khekhethu and Didiphu. After much persuasion, one of the old women announced that she wanted to show us wonders and to everyone's surprise, she started stripping off her clothes," she added.
The family assumed that maybe there was something in her body that she wanted to show them but she just stripped naked and then said: "Over my dead body. I will never give up on the goblins or say anything."
"After the incident, she called her two great grandchildren and they left for their homestead. Some family members decided to follow her to check on what she was up to since she was behaving in a strange manner," said Nnagimeng.
Upon arrival at the homestead, they found the woman on the verge of hanging herself and her two grandchildren. She allegedly had tied three ropes on the roof as she intended to hang the two children before committing suicide. The old woman's actions disturbed the cleansing ceremony as attention ended up shifting to her drama and the goblins were not released.
Gogo Moyo allegedly asked the family to give her time to try and convince her friends to give up the goblins as she was tired of being a 'witch'.
